In 2019, master distiller James MacTaggart celebrates his 12th anniversary with the distillery Arran.
For this special occasion, MacTaggart created an elegant and luxurious Arran single malt with some of the finest Palo Cortado ex-Sherry casks. These come from a producer who makes some of the best sherry wines from Jerez de la Frontera. The second ripening with these barrels creates a warming and rich note, which complements the fruitiness of the Arran whiskey wonderfully.
Aroma: light and fragrant, clear Sevilla orange marmalade, peach and mango - behind it ginger root and a Touch of hay and gorse bushes
Taste: rich in orange chocolate, quince jelly and peel of citrus fruits - followed by a hint of buttered sourdough and hints of rock salt - above all the influence of the Palo Cortado barrel
Finish: cider apples and again the warmth of the ginger - the rich character of the extraordinary sherry casks is present
