Product information "Arran Machrie Moor - The Peated Malt"
On the west coast of Arran Island lies a windswept and mysterious moor called Machrie Moor.
Stone circles and Hinkel stones from the Bronze Age determine the barren and gently rolling landscape.
Legend has it that the legend king Fingal tied his favorite dog Bran to one of these stones.

Nose: Dried grass, peaty smoke and light aromas of vanilla and tropical fruits
Palate: classic Arran character that tastes of fresh pineapple and lemon - malty notes in the background
Finish: Citrus fruits and peaty smoky notes continue in the long finish

Ein wirklich sehr guter rauchiger Whisky, ich schmecke immer eine schöne geräucherte Ananas und das sehr deutlich ein so klares und stark aufgrprägtes zusammenspiel von Frucht und Rauch habe ich sonst bei keinem rauchigen Whisky ohne Nachreifung in Süßwein oder Port Fässern.

das richtige wenn man mal was torfig/rauchiges möchte aber von lagavullin oder connemara abgeschreckt ist, die ja sehr intensiv torfig/rauchig schmecken

Zum Whisky:
Wer von diesem Whisky einen richtigen Arran erwartet ist schlecht informiert
Machrie Moor hat den Namen weil es kein klassischer Arran ist und einmal im Jahr hergestellt wird. Arran produziert während dieser zeit einen für Arran untypischen rauchigen Whisky, den Machrie Moor. Arran hat nun eine Destillerie aufgekauft um rauchige Whiskys herzustellen somit wird dieser Whisky in Zukunft nicht länger hergestellt werden oder zumindest in einer anderen Destillerie.

Den Whisky würde ich als sehr dezent beschreiben mit einer leicht fruchtigen und salzigen Note. Im Abgang entfaltet er einen milde rauchige Note.

Ein wenig enttäuschend... , kein richtiger Arran aber auch kein echter Rauch. Kein schlechter Whisky aber er weiß nicht so genau was er will.
