Highland Park's 16-year-old single malt whiskey matured in first-fill exRioja wine barrels and first-fill exBourbon barrels.
In detail there are 153 barrels distilled between May 11, 2000 and October 29, 2001, which were refilled between Jaunuar and March 2016 in 220-liter first-fill exRioja wine barrels.
In addition, 70 first-fill exBourbon barrels from 1999 - all these barrels were married in September 2018 and filtered at four degrees Celsius.
Aroma: slightly earthy peat flavors, with some cedar wood
Taste: sweet and creamy in the taste - very delicate and rounded with notes of sweet vanilla and sun-ripened peaches, summer berries and clear red wine
Finish: long finish with many fruity notes - over all light peat smoke
