In the history of Compass Box Whiskey, this bottling is the culmination of nearly 20 years of Scottish whiskey maker history!
In 2002, the story began with the Eleuthera, a blended malt whiskey (then called Vatted Whiskey!) From distillates of Clynelish and Caol Ila.
The flavors and taste profiles of these two distilleries are so large and multi-layered, the age of the whiskeys so outstanding that a renaissance painting was chosen for the label.
It was created in the 15th century in the studio of Andrea del Verocchio in Florence under the name of Tobias & the Angel.
As usual at this time, Tobias & der Engel shows the talents of several artists - for example, the little dog with his curly hair and the shiny fish that Tobias wears was painted by the young Leonardo da Vinci.
John Glaser - the head and handlebar of Comapss Box Whiskey - loves the symbolism of the naive boy and the divine angel.
For him, this reflects the relationship between the ethereal fruitiness and complexity of the 24-year-old Clynelish and the typical, aromatic smoke of the considerably older malt whiskey of the distillery Caol Ila.
Tobias & The Angel is the latest study on these unique flavor profiles and the effects of their combination.
Due to the age of the single single malts, this is the rarest and most valuable bottling so far.
The whiskey is a unique testimony to what Compass Box has made and learned in nearly 20 years of whiskey blending.

Clynelish Distillery, Brora; stored in Refill Bourbon Hogsheads - age 24 years, share 50.9%
Distinct aromas and flavors of campfire and charcoal, with ethereal herbal and fruit notes, a typical result of prolonged ripening.
