Douglas Laing has filled a real treasure with this 40-year-old single grain whiskey.
Already in 1987, the Caledonian distillery was closed, this single grain was distilled in april 1976 and matured for over 40 years in a refill hogshead, then Douglas Laing filled the barrel in August 2016 in the XOP series to only 290 bottles.
Aroma: at the beginning clearly barley sugar and ripe fruits, then aromas of espresso and various spices
Taste: mouth-filling sweet and very fruity in the taste, in addition the sugar-sweet barley
Finish: wonderfully spicy finish - still the fruits and the sugar, now with maple syrup
