The great essayist and historian Thomas Carlyle is dedicated to the 21st edition of the Scottish personalities of Glenfarclas.

Thomas Carlyle (1795-1881)

Thomas Carlyle was born in 1795 in Ecclefechan, east of Dumfries in southern Scotland.
Carlyle contributed significantly to the spread of German literature in the UK, he translated, inter alia, Goethe's work "Wilhelm Meister" and wrote a biography of Schiller.
His best-known work is "Sartor Resartus" from 1831, as well as a treatise on the French Revolution of 1837.

Ehrlich: Mehr erwartet, bei der Aufmachung! Geschmacklich flach, eher spritig ohne besondere Aromen, Holztöne etc.. Schade, vor allem bei dem für uns Deutsche historischen Jahrgang und der bedeutungsschwangeren Widmung an einen Literaten, der deutsche Autoren ins Englische übersetzt hat. Erinnert mich an Touristen-Branding ... :-(
