The classic under the name Port Charlotte - with a phenol content of 40ppm a real heavyweight in peat and smoke!
An incredibly elegant single malt whiskey with a wonderful tension between floral-fruity notes and the very dominant peat.
A tribute to Robert Harvey's whiskey, which was made here at Bruichladdich from 1881 until shortly before World War II.

The Port Charlotte whiskeys are stored in the coastal town of Port Charlotte, directly on the Lochindaal on the island of Islay.

Aroma: clearly peat and Atlantic! a scent of salty-crusted canvas and iodine, shattered shells and burnt wood - plus black pepper, paprika, leather and tobacco, then more delicate aromas like vanilla, figs, dates and pear, including dark toffee and fresh walnut
Taste: soft and warm in the taste - a distinct sweetness and smoke can be seen - a very deep and complex malt whiskey with smoky-sweet notes of malted barley - toffee and vanilla come back, then traces of citrus and oak
Finish: long and warming on the finish - smoke, leather and tobacco
