A great blended malt whiskey with a lot of sherry influence - only malt whiskeys from the Scottish Highlands can be found in this bottling.
Aroma: clearly sherry with spicy cinnamon and dried fruits - with a strong portion of malt
Taste: a lot, a lot of sherry with a balanced sweetness, paired with nutty notes, again the malt - in the background fine spicy notes of anise and cardamom
Departure: long finish with many fruits and nuts, with a strong hint of chocolate and spicy oak

Ein Blended ist so eine Sache, unsere normalerweise nicht. Aber wir hatten das Glück, 3 Flaschen vom 40-jährigen Beastie zu ergattern, das war ein Honigschmeichler sondergleichen. Daher haben wir es auch mit dem 21-jährigen probiert, da sind dann halt leider Lichtjahre dazwischen. Man bekommt das Mundgefühl vom 40-jährigen nicht aus dem Kopf, daher ist hier - vielleicht zu Unrecht - einfach eine große Enttäuschung zu vernehmen, der Vergleich hinkt natürlich. Aber auch alleine betrachtet ist diese Abfüllung kein großer Wurf.
