Jameson 's successor to the Select Reserve matured in Double Charred First Fill exBourbon barrels - these are former Bourbon Casks that were built before the Filling must be heavily burned out in order to obtain a strong carbon layer in the Cask.
Tasting Notes: This is how Jameson Black Barrel tastes like
- Nose: strong aromas of butterscotch and creamy toffee, plus tropical fruits, especially peach and guava, followed by fresh grain
- Palate: full and rich in taste an exceptional creaminess - pronounced nutty notes, plus a pleasant spiciness and sweet vanilla
- Finish: long and intense in the finish - clearly roasted wood and vanilla again
