Amrut breaks new ground in whiskey maturation!
This single malt whiskey first matured in exBourbon barrels, after which the whiskey matured in barrels composed of five different cask types.
These barrels consist of the staves and lids of exAmerican Oak, exFrench Oak, exSpanish Oak, exOloroso and exPedro Ximenez casks.
The result is a truly complex single malt whiskey - only 1,000 bottles were bottled.
Aroma: sweet sherry with lots of raisins and some chocolate - with fruity aromas of mango, dates and figs, followed by some roasted coffee and tobacco
Taste: Sherry and oak are very present, then the dates and the raisins, in addition to nutty and spicy notes of ginger and nutmeg, some coriander
Finish: some sherry and dark chocolate, with the spicy notes again - very long on the finish
