Auchentoshan's "bloody oak" matured in former French red wine Casks and exBourbon Casks - like all bottlings (and atypical for Scottish whiskys) of Auchentoshan, the Blood Oak was also triple distilled.
Nose: you can clearly see ripe raspberries, plums and maraschino cherries - juicy dates and raisins, rounded off by fine vanilla and toffee notes
Taste: again the ripe fruits - clearly blood orange, now develop nutty notes - then spicier - especially nutmeg and ginger
Finish: long and fruity finish - redcurrants and spicy oak
