Gunroom used to refer to the gun room in which the guns and gunpowder were stored - and the barrels of rum or gin!
The alcohol taken at sea had to be high-proof, so that the flammability of the gunpowder was not endangered in the event of pouring out - the correspondingly high alcohol content was called "gunpowder proof" - with this rum 65% vol. Alcohol!

This elegant rum is a blend of rum casks from Jamaica, Trinidad, Barbados and Guyana.
