This 20-year-old single malt whiskey from Glendronach was distilled on September 23, 1994 and initially stored in ex-Sherry barrels.
Thereafter, only five exPedro Ximenez sherry octave barrels were filled with this whiskey for maturation.
Just 371 bottles were bottled from these five octave barrels - only 12 of them found their way to Germany.
Aroma: intense aromas of chocolate and fondant, candied ginger and glazed cherries - plus warming notes of ground black pepper, spicy oak notes and some licorice
Taste: full-bodied with a sherry character, dark syrup and a lot of fruity Christmas cake, ripe plums and spicy notes reminiscent of a freshly opened cigar box - then dark espresso and nuts
Finish: again very clearly the dark Pedro Ximenez-Sherry, in a very elegant combination with Glendronach's typically-spicy Highland Malt character
