One of the first barrels after the reopening of the Bruichladdich distillery in May 2001. Very balanced combination of smoky and fruity notes.
Aroma: moist earth and hay - a very earthy peat smoke in the foreground - then slowly fruity, ripe, red berries, some citrus - still earthy, coupled with smoke and oak Taste: very rustic and oily - sweet and nutty, lots of smoke from burned wood, noticeably oak, some dark chocolate Finish: long, very smoky finish, many matritime notes, reminiscent of an old, humid rowing boat in the harbor
