In the summer of 2014, Springbank presented the 30-year Blend Spirit of Freedom on the occasion of the 700th anniversary of the Battle of Bannockburn.
In September 2014, the referendum on Scottish independence and the possible withdrawal from Britain took place in Scotland.
45% of the Scots voted for independence, so Springbank filled out the Blended Scotch Spirit of Freedom 45.

This new bottling now bears the name 45+, at Springbank you are sure, today more than 45% of the Scots would vote for independence!
Bottled with an alcohol content of 52% vol., 45 different whiskeys from all over Scotland were selected for this bottling - the blend has an age of five years.

Aroma: sweet and fruity, clear apricot, banana and dried coconut - followed by toffee, shortbread and raspberry - some cream
Taste: even more sweetness - Demerara sugar, creamy toffee and banana cake - pleasantly oily and perfectly balanced
Finish: caramel, sugar syrup and white chocolate
