In the summer of 2014, Springbank presented the 30-year Blend Spirit of Freedom on the occasion of the 700th anniversary of the Battle of Bannockburn.
In September 2014, the referendum on Scottish independence and the possible withdrawal from Britain took place in Scotland.
45% of the Scots voted for independence, so Springbank filled out the Blended Scotch Spirit of Freedom 45.

This new bottling now bears the name 45+, at Springbank you are sure, today more than 45% of the Scots would vote for independence!
Bottled with an alcohol content of 52% vol., 45 different whiskeys from all over Scotland were selected for this bottling - the blend has an age of five years.

Aroma: sweet and fruity, clear apricot, banana and dried coconut - followed by toffee, shortbread and raspberry - some cream
Taste: even more sweetness - Demerara sugar, creamy toffee and banana cake - pleasantly oily and perfectly balanced
Finish: caramel, sugar syrup and white chocolate

Ich trinke den Whisky nicht nur weil er absolut köstlich schmeckt, sondern auch weil dieser nicht mit Zuckerkulör gefärbt ist.

Unbedingt zum Sammeln, sicherlich nicht zum Trinken. Vielleicht klappt's ja noch mit der Unabhängigkeit, jetzt beim Brexit-Desaster. Uuuund die Bottle war preiswerter als in Schottland selbst.

Hatte ich mir etwas wehr erwartet. So süß wie in der Beschreibung ( "Demerara-Zucker, cremiges Toffee und Bananenkuchen") ist er nicht. Man schmeckt doch etwas den Anteil an Grain.

not recomended - to me it tasted like they took a random sampling of rejected casks from 45 distilleries and mixed. undrinkable - I threw it out.

Junger Whisky in sehr schöner Aufmachung. Mit Box und dem Ausgabejahr wäre die noch besser gewesen. Hätte man (Springbank!) mehr daraus machen können. Die Idee war gut.
Eher was zum Sammeln (stark limitiert) als zum Trinken. Für meinen Geschmack zu sprittig. Wasser hilft da überhaupt nicht. Riecht auch besser, als er dann schmeckt. Für um 30¤ nur wegen des netten Labels noch i.O. Darüber geschmacklich (nach meiner bescheidenen Meinung) nicht sein Geld wert.
