First matured in exBourbon barrels, Benriach had this single malt whiskey ripen in former dark rum barrels from Jamaica.
A very nice proof of the positive influence that the different barrels have on the whiskey.
Aroma: a game between toffee, spices, cinnamon and sultanas - plus a decent portion of rum
Taste: still toffee and cinnamon, now comes apricots, rose petals and chocolate
Finish: the finish is dominated by rum and sultanas
