Since the beginning of the distillery, an unusually high proportion of corn has been used here for bourbon whiskey.
70% corn and 15% rye and barley are used for the mash.
The high proportion of corn gives the bourbon its slight sweetness and a pleasant mildness.
The new barrels are burned out strongly, the resulting carbon layer gives the whiskey the typical vanilla and caramel notes.
Chosen as the whiskey of the year in 1997, Woodford Reserve is a Kentucky Straight Bourbon whiskey that is best drunk neat or with a splash of water.
