Ardbeg Alligator Exclusive Committee reserve 51.2% vol. 0,7l

Ardbeg Alligator - Exclusive Committee Reserve - for Discussion
The term alligator comes from the cooperage and denotes the strongest way of burning out of barrels.
Whiskey barrels are burned out before filling with an open flame to produce a carbon layer which serves as a filter during the maturation period of whiskey.
This burn-out time for "normal" barrels is about 1-2 minutes, in the alligator process, the barrels are burned out for 4 minutes.
The result is an extremely thick layer of charcoal with a clear, scaly structure reminiscent of a crocodile or alligator skin.

Barrels made of American white oak were used for the Ardbeg alligator.
