Glenfiddich fills his Distillery Edition in barrel size, despite the relatively high alcohol content of this single malt whiskey but also without the Zugave of water is very good to enjoy.
However, you should definitely try it with a few drops of water, the different flavors and notes are much more intense!

Aroma: very delicate with floral aromas
Taste: full and balanced with a very nice mouthfeel, again the floral notes, fruity and a light pepper spice
Departure: long-lasting finish with a lingering sweetness - pleasantly warm

Im Vergleich zum 15er Unique Solera Reserve mit 40 %, fällt sofort der intensiv rötliche Bernsteinton auf. Mir gefallen besonders der intensive, ausgewogene Geschmack, mit angenehm wärmendem Torfrauch im Abgang und das nicht nur wegen seiner 51 %. Hier wurde die Fassstärke verdünnt und als Edition angeboten. Ein weiteres Verdünnen mit Eis bzw. Wasser, macht ihn weniger intensiv und wäre ein Verfälschen seines ureigenen Charakters.
Es zeigt sich, dass die Glenfiddich Distillery nicht umsonst zu den mehrfachen Preisträgern gehört.

Für seinen Preis nicht schlecht. Diesen Whisky kann man, muß man aber nicht haben. Ich bestelle ihn immer für meinen Vater mit und der trinkt ihn halt mit Cola. Naja jedem das seine aber wie gesagt er schmeckt (natürlich auch ohne Cola) gut.
