John B. Keane (1928-2002) was (and is!) One of the most popular Irish writers.
Several of his works were filmed.

In this book he presents a collection of "his" Christmas stories.
On over 200 pages in handy paperback format, there are entertaining stories from the Christmas season.

Christmas wet, but happy
The days around Christmas are also in Ireland a time full of surprises. However, not only does Santa bring gifts to children on the first holiday, the strangest things happen at that time, especially in rural surroundings. There are normal calves become sacred, the three wise men from the East joined by a fourth, a man falls into a seven-year magical sleep, fairies and other figures of the Irish saga are suddenly in front of a live and almost dead are brought back to life. Those who do not believe it should pay homage to the most important of all Irish Christmas customs, namely simply drinking more whiskey. Well then, cheers Christmas!
