Port Ellen 32 Year Old 1979/2012 Douglas Laing "Platinum Selection" 54.8% vol. 0,7l

Douglas Laing & Co. was founded in 1950 as a blending company.
The core business is still old-fashioned blends - the main markets for Douglas Laing & Co. are Latin America and Asia.
Since this business has been declining since the mid-90s, it has been decided to fill the best malts from its own stock as a single malt.
This resulted in the high quality "The Old Malt Cask" series as well as the "McGibbon's Provenance" series.

Port Ellen "Old & Rare" - Platinum Selection
Since 1983, Port Ellen is no longer produced.
The malt of this distillery is one of the largest in Scotland - pithy and peaty, but not quite as heavy as other Islay malts.

Aroma: at first strong spicy, with fresh leather, surprisingly peaty for his age, earthy with a lot of smoke
Taste: sweet peat, then smoke and toffee with subdued spicy notes
Finish: The finish is long with salty liquorice, then soot, ash and coal
