This 15-year-old Aberlour has received his finish in selected sherry casks.
The typical spicy notes of the Aberlour are complemented by the pleasant sweetness of sherry.

Aroma: intense sherry flavors - plums, raisins, figs and honey shake hands
Taste: rich in flavor, lots of vanilla, again honey and raisins - slightly nutty in the background, some fruit
Finish: Medium-long, light finish with notes of citrus fruits

Leider gibt es den 15er von Aberlour nicht mehr. Neu auf den Markt jetzt ein 14er und der schon etablierte 16er. Weiterhin gibt es auch einen 18er welcher aber offensichtlich weniger zur Verfügung steht. (nur noch 0.5 L Abfüllungen) Anscheinend hat Aberlour nicht genug alte Fässer. Was auch dafür spricht das sie mit dem Tripple Cask jetzt einen ohne Altersangabe im Programm haben. Bei Aberlour werden die Malt getrennt in Ex Bourbon und Sherry Fässern gereift. Dann werden sie "verheiratet" also vermischen und noch mal für ein paar Monate in Tanks gelagert. Der Grundsatz war immer je älter je höher der Sherryfass anteil. (So wurde es mir zumindest bei meinen Besuch dort 2012 erklärt) Für mich war immer der 15er und 18er meine Favoriten Der 18 mit seiner tiefen Sherrynote und verhältnissmässig wenig Eiche und der etwas fruchtige 15er. Aber auch der neue14 und der 16er sind zum 15 der nun leider nicht mehr auf den Markt ist ein adäquater Ersatz.

Wunderbar runder, angenehmer Whisky. Schon der 12-jährige hatte mir sehr gut gefallen. Dieser hat noch etwas mehr Würze aus dem Fass und stellt mich mit seinem recht langem Abgang sehr zufrieden. Sehr fairer Preis für die Qualität.
