Bunnahabhain 1997/2010 Octave Cask f. Malts and More Duncan Taylor 51.2% vol. 0,7l
Duncan Taylor has its roots in Glasgow, formerly a major broker in the whiskey market, Duncan Taylor is now established as an independent bottler.
A few years ago they moved to the Speyside, they founded their own warehouse, where malts from almost all Scottish distilleries from many decades can be found.
Bunnahabhain - the Octave - exclusive to Malts and More
Exclusive bottling of an Octave Casks for Malts and More.
Octave barrels have just a content of about 45-68 liters, with the result that a single barrel bottling does not produce many bottles - in this case, just 71 bottles.
Due to the small size of the Octave barrels, a whiskey can not spend long maturation here, the influence of the wood and its aromas is too big - "too much whiskey has too much contact with the barrel".
The bunnahabhain matured for 13 years in a bourbon cask, then the whiskey came for another three months in a sherry octave cask.
The result is an exceptional Bunnahabhain, with a slight peat note, a little smoke and fruit and - unusual for a Bunnahabhain - with a lot of "Islay-character":
Sweet aromas of melon, light smoke, lime and walnut.
In the taste honey, ashes, peat, apple, cinnamon and "spiced" oranges.
