Douglas Laing & Co. was founded in 1950 as a blending company.
The core business is still old-fashioned blends - the main markets for Douglas Laing & Co. are Latin America and Asia.
Since this business has been declining since the mid-90s, it has been decided to fill the best malts from its own stock as a single malt.
This resulted in the high quality "The Old Malt Cask" series as well as the "McGibbon's Provenance" series.
Aberlour "The old Malt Cask" - special bottling for Germany - Cask strength Edition no. 1
Aberlour has been one of the top international brands since the late 1980s.
Aberlour is one of the creamiest malts ever, with a distinct sherry note and pronounced toffee character.
Aberlour dispenses with the usual wooden plugs for barrel storage and uses cork instead.
The cork plugs are intended to facilitate the evaporation of coarser flavorings, creating a softer whiskey.
A round whiskey with fresh, clear aromas of citrus, then sweetness and malted barley.
In the taste first sweet and spicy - later vanilla and maple syrup.
The finish is long and very nice round with pronounced spicy notes.
Bottling from a Refill Hogshead.
Data of bottling
Distilled: November 1990
Bottled: June 2010
Edition: 255 bottles
