Founded in 1779, Bowmore is one of Scotland's oldest distilleries.
Bowmore still uses its own malting floors and is one of the few distilleries on Islay, who like to experiment with sherry barrels.
Small Batch Release - Batch # 1 - Bottled 2009
The Bowmore Tempest is bottled only in small quantities.
This batch no. 1 is the first filling in this series.
For 10 years, the malt matured in first-fill bourbon barrels.
The result is a whiskey with lots of smoke and a pinch of sea salt.
In the taste a light citrus note, lime and orange, then comes peat and lake.
Long finish.
