Since the reopening of Bruichladdich by the independent bottler Murray McDavid in 2000 - and especially under the direction of Jim McEwan - the distillery and its whiskey shine like never before.
Jim McEwan - born on Islay and formerly master distiller at Bowmore - made a return to the original and natural in making Scottish whiskey.
For this reason, all bottlings of Bruichladdich are not filtered cool and without dyes.
X4 + 3 years - Quadruple Distilled
After bottling the New Spirit, here is the first bottling, which can be called "whiskey" at the age of three - distilled 4 times
This whiskey was made after a recipe from 1695.
At that time, whiskey was distilled four times, which makes it especially soft.
The quadruple distillation was stopped because it is simply too dangerous for the distillery, the fire receives after the fourth distillation a high explosive alcohol content, which in this bottling with fresh spring water to 50% vol. was reduced.
