Lagavulin Distillers Edition 1991/2007 43% vol. 0,7l
Probably the most typical representative of Islay.
The year of foundation of Lagavulin is stated to be 1816, although it is true that this is uncertain.
The origins of Lagavulin are obscure, but it is certain that it originated from one of the many black distilleries that were active on the island in the 18th century.
The current buildings were built in 1924 by White Horse Distillers.
White Horse Distillers goes back to James L. Mackie, who operated on Islay in 1867 a distillery.
It is believed that this was Laphroaig.
Unlike the 16-year-old, this malt has been given additional maturation in a Pedro Ximenez barrel.
Wonderfully powerful and smoky with lots of sea and peat, the sherry barrel is clearly visible.
