Profile: What Makes Merlyn Welsh Cream Liqueur Special
Penderyn produces this wonderful whisky cream liqueur from its own Penderyn malt and fresh cream. Inspired by the legendary Welsh wizard Merlin, it is a truly magical liqueur of the highest class.
The Penderyn Distillery lies in the Brecon Beacons National Park in Wales and was founded in 2000 as the Welsh Whisky Company. When sales began in 2004, Penderyn was the first whisky made in Wales for over a century. The special feature is the unique still designed by Dr David Faraday: a single copper pot still with a purifier and rectification column, which produces a high-strength distillate of around 92% ABV – the reason for the bright, clean and fruity house style.
That style forms the basis for Merlyn: the malt spirit provides depth and a subtly warming note that combines harmoniously with the fresh cream. The liqueur tastes best well chilled, over ice, and at room temperature it refines coffee or goes well with fresh berries.

- Nose: A rich aroma of fudge and toffee, plus a clean spirit base; beneath the sweetness delicate notes of banana, exotic fruit and rose petals
