The Speyside distillery Dailuaine was founded in the 19th century and fitted with the pagoda roofs typical of the region for its kilns. Dailuaine entered a close business relationship with the Talisker distillery in 1898, and these two malts still form a basis for the Johnnie Walker blends. Dailuaine produces a balanced, almost opulent malt – as a Flora & Fauna bottling it presents itself as a strong, sherried Speysider.
Tasting Notes: What Dailuaine 16 Year Old Flora & Fauna Tastes Like
- Nose: Dark caramel, raisins and cherries, plus honey and baking spice – like a fruitcake; earthy and rich in sherry with orange peel, plums, dates and hazelnuts
