The Macallan was founded in 1824.
Since 1892 the distillery is run by the Kemp family.
The Kemps had until 1996, the majority of the distillery.
The end of independence came when Highland Distillers gained the majority.
The reputation of the distillery is impeccable - The Macallan is considered the Rolls-Royce among the whiskeys.
This is probably due to the fact that the whiskey, which is bottled as a single malt, is stored exclusively in Spanish Oloroso sherry casks.
Only the whiskey, which is intended for blends, comes from bourbon barrels.
Macallan selects the barrels in Spain and leaves them there until needed in Scotland.
The original bottling of this replica is safely guarded by Macallan in the premises of the distillery.
Macallan has taken a sample from this bottle and created this replica from a seemingly endless number of barrels.
Even the bottle is based on the original, all the irregularities, the color and structure of the glass and the label are identical to the original.
The bottle was sealed by hand, a cork is there to close the bottle after the onset.
The bottle is delivered in the original box, covered with red velvet, the origin of the replica, etiquette rules (etiquette) from the time of the original and a foreword by Charles MacLean (whiskey author and critic) are put together in a small, very beautiful notebook.
