Feiertag für Rum-Liebhaber: Black Tot Master Blender’s Reserve 2022

Als Matrose in der Royal Navy hatte man die Wahl: entweder Rum oder den entsprechenden Gegenwert in Bargeld - bis zum 31. Juli 1970.
Am sogenannten "Black Tot Day" wurde die letzte Rum-Ration, der "tot", ausgeteilt.

Für Rum-Liebhaber kein Grund zu trauern: Die Marke Black Tot Rum der Elixir Distillers zelebriert den Jahrestag auch im Jahr 2022 wieder mit einer außergewöhnlichen Abfüllung.

Für den Black Tot Master Blender's Reserve 2022 hat sich das Team von historischen Rumsorten aus der eigenen Sammlung und deren in Vergessenheit geratenen Geschmacksprofilen leiten lassen: Noten von gebackener Banane, Schokolade, Mokka-Milchshakes, Honig, Tabak, Leder, Lakritze und Gewürze.

Fundament der Abfüllung bildet der Master Blender‘s Reserve 2021, der seit dem vergangenen Black Tot Day in Sherryfässern reifte.
Dieser Blend aus bis zu 30 Jahre alten Guyana-, Jamaika-, Trinidad- und Barbados-Rums wurde mit einem kleinen Teil des originalen British Royal Navy Rum zu einem verlockenden Ergebnis vermählt.

Aroma: geschmolzene Schokolade, geröstete Haselnüsse, warme Orangen und Zimtstangen mit Anklängen tropischer Säfte und Cassis - über allem schwarze Johannisbeeren und Himbeerblätter
Geschmack: die anfänglichen Noten von Schokolade und Rosinen werden durch Milchkaffee und reife Banane ergänzt - dazu kommt ein Hauch von Anis und ein Anflug von tropischen Früchten, gebackenem Demerarazucker und Karamellcreme
Abgang: lang im Abgang mit Zimt und Muskatnuss sowie Chili und Kakao
