This single-cask bottling from an exSherry barrel is 48 years old - almost as dark as the night is the single malt, which was bottled to only 137 bottles.
The bottles were individually numbered and packed in the Ben Nevis typical, noble wooden box.
Aroma: freshly polished wood and suede - then clearly raisins and fresh blackberries, a little plum compote - in the background rotten, damp wood
Taste: a full-bodied sweetness, very elegant and complex with notes of creamy butter, fudge and dark chocolate - reminiscent of noble brandy - now again the raisins and pickled plums - dry on the palate, but warming
Departure: The finish is warm and full-bodied - pleasantly soft and mouth-filling with a balanced balance of sweetness and the fine bitterness of dark chocolate
