FAQ

Do you offer a VAT refund when goods are exported?

For the reimbursement of German VAT, we need the invoice stamped by customs. After receiving the invoice, we will refund the VAT amount.

What are the costs of buying with delivery to Switzerland?

Since the products we offer are mainly products subject to the tax on spirits, they must be cleared in the destination country. The relevant customs office provides information on this.

You can find information on specific customs fees here: http://xtares.admin.ch/tares

Example whiskey

Swiss VAT is also due:

7.7% VAT (majority of shipments)
2.5% VAT (e.g. books)

In addition to the spirits tax, there are other taxes related to tax processing.

You can find information on this from the following link:

Our packages will be shipped with DHL Economy. DHL calculates the following costs accordingly:

Customs clearance fee CHF 11.50 (once per order)
Over 5 customs tariff numbers: additional CHF 12 / number

Example order of an Old Ballantruan "The Peated Malt" 50% vol. 0.7l for 31.08 EUR (net) / postage 10.90 EUR

DHL customs clearance fee: CHF 11.50 (once per order)

Alcohol tax: 0.7l x 50% vol. x CHF 29 = CHF 10.15

Import duty: 1.7kg x 0.38 CHF / kg = 0.65 CHF

VAT: (EUR 31.08 + EUR 10.90) x 1.0924 = CHF 45.86 x 7.7% = CHF 4.3

Total additional fees: CHF 26.6

DHL charges an expense allowance of 3% (max. 60 CHF) in addition to the costs already shown.

Is the Swedish alcohol tax considered for deliveries to Sweden?

In the case of delivery to Sweden, our prices include both the Swedish alcohol tax and the Swedish VAT. For this reason, the prices differ from the international and German prices. There are no additional fees for deliveries to Sweden.

Why don't you offer a direct hotline?

In order not to have you waiting in a queue on the phone unnecessarily, we have switched to a call back service. Please let us know your callback request by email. We will then contact you promptly by phone.

We only enclose a paper invoice with the orders that have chosen the payment method "purchase on account". This is only available to regular customers. All orders will receive an invoice in pdf together with the tracking link by email.

How can I track the progress of my order?

You can see the status of your order in your customer account. When the shipment is sent, you will receive a tracking mail with all information.

With which shipping service provider will the order be sent?

We ship exclusively with DHL.

Why are deliveries to other European countries not possible?

Our products are subject to the tax on spirits. This is different in every country in the EU. Tax would have to be paid separately in each country. This is a very high administrative effort. For this reason, only deliveries to Germany and non-European countries are possible.
