When it comes to casks and their influence on single malt whisky, Billy Walker is undoubtedly a master of his craft. 
With his Virgin Oak Series the industry legend goes one step further: the whiskies matured in empty oak casks enable discerning fans to explore the taste of oak from all parts of the world unaffected by sherry, wine and co.. 
 
A rare and unusual pleasurable experienceis the finishing in rare Hungarian oak. The GlenAllachie 7 Year Hungarian Oak Finish matured for 18 months in Quercus Petraea from the Zemplén Forest in the mountains of north-east Hungary. 

The result: a balanced , silky whisky with spicy oak and soft berry notes.

Tasting Notes: This is how the GlenAllachie 7 Year old Hungarian Oak Finish tastes

  • Nose: full-bodied with caramel, citrus and milk chocolate, with cinnamon, raisins, fruit and ginger
  • Palate: lots of heather honey and cinnamon, followed by chocolate, lemon candies and caramelized brown sugar
  • Finish: warm and soft in the long finish - raisins, chocolate and spicy wood are present for a long time
