Portrait: What the Ben Nevis 8 year old 2014/2023 Oloroso Sherry Butts Vintage Signatory

The Scottish Highland distillery Ben Nevis is located at the foot of Scotland's highest mountain of the same name.
The strong, spicy single malts have now become a rarity bottlings from Ben Nevis are rarely found.
Signatory selected second-filled exOloroso Sherry butts for this bottling.

Distilled in December 2014, bottled in July 2023.
As always at Signatory, bottled without the addition of coloring!

Vintage whiskies from a closed distillery, Single malts from rare individual barrels - Signatory Vintage sources exclusive Scotch whiskeys for its bottlings. 
More than 10,000 hogsheads, butts and co. are stored in the halls of the independent bottler. Signatory releases bottlings from this wooden treasure in various series. The copper-colored tubes are synonymous with (entry-level) whiskeys with a pleasant drinking strength of 43%vol.

Tasting Notes: This is how the the Ben Nevis 8 year old 2014/2023 Oloroso Sherry Butts Vintage Signatory tastes like

  • Nose: clear vanilla and nutmeg, with a slight hint of smoke

  • Palate: now spicy notes with lots of herbs, plus vanilla again - overlaid by soft smoke

  • Finish: light and spicy on the finish
