Stratheden Vintage Blended Malt Scotch Whiskey - Distillery Lost 46% vol. 0,7l

Stratheden existed from 1829-1926, the founder of the distillery was Alexander Bonthrone (1798-1890), at the age of 31 came to him the idea to build a distillery, he searched for a suitable place and found it - but unfortunately there was there no river and no place.
That's how Auchtermuchty in Fife, whose mayor he was for a long time, came into being, and he created an artificial river bed (which today shares the place) to get water for his single malt whiskey.
For 60 years he was the man who produced and marketed Stratheden, his sons and grandsons took over the distillery for the second and third generation, which unfortunately closed the gates in the jubilee of 1926.
Tax hikes and ultimately prohibition in the US - the main market for Stratheden - brought the Bonthrones to their knees.

Aroma: old leather, then fruit and barley - reminiscent of fruit cake, dark cherries in the background
Taste: the cherries become more intense, with notes of warm pastries, some toffee and slightly sweetish tobacco notes, combined with vanilla
Finish: Toffee and tobacco remain, and the leather comes back, long-lasting
