50 Years Billy Walker - The GlenAllachie 16 y.o. Past Edition celebrates the living legend
His journey into the world of whisky began in 1972.
As a chemist, Billy Walker had the ideal basis for an in-depth understanding of the spirit.
He worked for well-known international brands for 30 years before finally setting his reputation in stone as the mastermind behind the revival and phenomenal success of several distilleries.
Now Billy Walker is celebrating half a century in the industry - as one of the most important whisky personalities of his generation.
To mark this extraordinary milestone, The GlenAllachie presents the 50th Anniversary Trilogy.
The anniversary series focuses on three areas of Walker's expertise: sherry maturation, cask management and distillation.
"The GlenAllachie 16 Years Past Edition" represents the past of the industry legend, in which Billy Walker established himself with lush bottlings matured in sherry casks.
The first anniversary edition therefore matured 100% in sherry butts.
Walker personally selected the nine vintage casks from Spain - and used them to create a single malt whisky full of intense espresso notes, heather honey, glazed figs and sweet spices.

Nose: Aromas of walnuts, heather honey and delicate dried fruit, followed by accents of roasted coffee, orange peel and cinnamon sticks
Palate: Plenty of fig syrup, caramelized muscovado sugar and toasted pine nuts with notes of heather honey, candied ginger and dried apricots
