Jim McEwan - born on Islay and formerly master distiller at Bowmore - made a return to the original and natural in making Scottish whiskey.
For this reason, all bottlings of Bruichladdich are not filtered cool and without dyes.

With a peat content of 140ppm, this is the world's most heavily peated malt. Bruichladdich distils this whiskey in memory of the old Islay distillery "Octomore", which was located above Port Charlotte.

Für Torfnasen ein Erlebnis, man muss Torf aber wirklich mögen. Die Octomore Whiskys sind wirklich enorm aufgeladen in dieser Hinsicht. Ich persönlich finde so stark rauchig – torfige Whiskys am angenehmsten, wenn man sie nach einem langen und arbeitsreichen und anstrengenden Tag genießt. Aber das wird sicherlich jede Torfnase souverän für sich selbst entscheiden. In jedem Falle ein sehr bemerkenswerter Whisky.

Schön war diese ja damals ziemlich neue Abfüllung. Leider hat die Qualität bei den nächsten Abfüllungen nachgelassen.
