Anniversary for rare rums: Savanna celebrates 30 years with Rhum Agricole Très Vieux de la Réunion

La Réunion is a sugar cane paradise.

Located on the shores of the Indian Ocean, at the foot of the Piton de la Fournaise volcano, the Savanna distillery has been producing rare, authentic rum by hand here since 1870.

Unusually for distilleries in the French overseas departments, Savanna processes both fresh sugar cane juice and molasses.

After more than a century in the "Domaine Savanna", the distillery changed its location and moved to the rainy, fertile north-east coast of La Réunion - to the Domaine Bois Rouge in Saint André.

30 years have passed since the move, during which Savanna continued to write success stories with high-quality Rhum Agricole and Grand Arôme Rum.

The traditional distillery is now celebrating this with a limited anniversary bottling.

Edition Bois Rouge 1992/2022 is a Rhum Agricole Très Vieux, masterfully blended from six hand-picked French oak barrels.

With an alcohol content of 57% vol. the noble brandy unfolds a hint of mint in the nose, followed by tropical fruits and slightly spicy notes of vanilla.

Soft and at the same time spicy, the palate shows its lively side and finishes with notes of fresh sugar cane.
