In 2016, the first distillery in the city of Akkeshi in Hokkaido took off In operation. As on the Scottish Whisky Island of Islay, the distillery is located directly on the sea, just a few meters from the Pacific Ocean. Surrounded by swamps, it also has direct access to the local peat.
The Akkeshi Blended Whisky Usui is smoky, fruity and creamy - the first Blended Whisky from the young Distillery. It consists of Single Malts distilled in Akkeshi as well as imported raw Grain Spirits and matured for more than three years.
Usui is the second bottling in the "24 Solar Term Series". The series is inspired by the old Asian calendar, in which a year is divided into 24 solar years.
