Caol Ila is considered an insider tip, compared to other Islay whiskeys it is light - but it has an intense peat taste.

Caol Ila was founded in 1846, and in 1863 ownership changed to Bulloch, Lade & Co.
From 1920 to 1927, the distillery Robertson & Baxter belonged before they finally came to DCL (later UDV).
In the years 1972 to 1974 Caol Ila was completely renovated.

Contrary to all other bottlings of the distillery, this 8-year-old was burned with unsupported barley.
