Distilled on April 15, 2004, this peated Single Malt Whisky matured for over 15 years in an exPort Wine Cask, then Edradour bottled the Cask on March 2, 2020 to just 286 bottles.

Distilled from Malt with at least 50 ppm smoke content, the smoky Highland Whiskys mature in very different types of casks for their varied taste profile.
This Cask-strength Ballechin matured in a Port Wine Cask for over 15 years - and is therefore one of the rare Port Wine Casks in the Whisky World.
Casks filled with the Portuguese dessert Wine offer a wide range of taste nuances.
What they all have in common: full-bodied fruit notes - even more intense than Connoisseurs know from sherry Casks.
The slightly red-gold Ballechin enters into a seductive liaison of strong smoke and sweet dried fruit, accompanied by marzipan as well as wood and hay notes.
Nose: strong smoke, then sweet port wine aromas and dried fruits, accompanied by marzipan, freshly cut wood and a little white pepper
Taste: pleasant campfire smoke, cold ash and iodine, followed by raisins, dates and malty sweetness
Finish: smoke again, followed by grapes and figs - slowly fading away with notes of hay, dates and some oak
