In 1997, Glenmorangie Ardbeg of Allied Distillers bought large amounts of money to renovate the distillery that had been closed for so many years to produce whiskey, which many critics refer to as the best in the world.
The Story of Peat
In addition to the four miniatures below, this beautifully crafted box contains a small booklet written by Jim Murray, with a short story about peat (peat) - a not inconsiderable part of the Ardbeg malts (in English).
Ardbeg TEN 10 years 46% vol. 0.05l
The 10-year-old bottling is not cold-filtered (non-chillfiltered) and without dyes.
The taste and aroma are typically Ardbeg - smoky, iodine-rich, salty.
Ardbeg 17 years 40% vol. 0.05l
The 17-year-old bottling includes older vintages than indicated since the distillery was closed 17 years ago.
The Ardbeg character also comes into its own with this filling: smoke and seaweed are clearly noticeable, the finish is long and malty.
Ardbeg Uigeadail 54.2% vol. 0.05l
A cuvée from Ardbegs of different ages.
Again, smoke and peat dominates, accompanied by a fruity sherry, light tobacco notes and espresso aromas.
By adding water, light vanilla and oak notes are released.
Ardbeg Kildalton 1981/2005 52.6% vol. 0.05l
The Kildalton is a lightly punched Ardbeg in barrel strength.
A pleasant smoking sound with slight "medicine" notes.
