Lagavulin 25 Year Old Bottled 2002 57.2% vol. 0,7l

Probably the most typical representative of Islay.

The year of foundation of Lagavulin is stated to be 1816, although it is true that this is uncertain.
The origins of Lagavulin are obscure, but it is certain that it originated from one of the many black distilleries that were active on the island in the 18th century.
The current buildings were built in 1924 by White Horse Distillers.
White Horse Distillers goes back to James L. Mackie, who operated on Islay in 1867 a distillery.
It is believed that this was Laphroaig.

It starts sweetly and then unfolds with force its sharpness and peatiness.

Jim Murray, the whiskey author u. Critic writes about him: "Lagavulin is to be treated with caution, but reverence, this is not a malt to sip lightly - it devours one!"

This 25-year-old bottling in barrel strength with 57.2% vol. is limited to 9,000 bottles.
