Craigellachie

Translation: Rock Mountain
Region: Speyside

Good tip.

At this point we would like to once more have the famous whiskey connoisseur and author Jim Murray speak. He wrote:
"Craigellachie I prefer at all times (here is actually the name of a very famous malt whiskey, which we greatly appreciate ourselves.) If you get this whiskey for sale, take as much as you can carry, its strength lies in the creamy softness , the oiliness that clings to the palate, so that follows the long, sweet malt flavor a wonderfully smoky finish. "
Of course, the enthusiastic Jim Murray could not have known at the time: you do not even have to carry your Craigellachie ordered from us ...

A little history

The distillery was founded in 1891 by the Craigellachie-Glenlivet Distillery Company, whose principal shareholders were Alexander Edward and "Restless" Peter Mackie. The architect was the famous Charles Chree Doig, who invented the pagoda roofs so typical of whiskey distilleries.
Production began in 1898. In 1916, the distillery was built by Mackie & Company Distillers Ltd. taken over, the owners of White Horse.
In 1927, the White Horse Distillers were purchased by Distillers Company Limited (DCL). Craigellachie became the property of Scottish Malt Distillers (SMD), a division of the DCL Group, in 1930.
In 1964, as part of a renovation, the number of stills was expanded from two to four.
In 1987 Craigellachie went to United Distillers & Vintners (UDV). They sold the distillery to Bacardi in 1998 together with Aberfeldy, Royal Brackla, Aultmore and the company John Dewar & Sons.
Much of the production goes into Dewar's Blends.

What do I actually have in the glass?

Craigellachie is a Speyside malt as he could not be finer and more typical. See Jim Murray in the first paragraph ...

3 reasons to love Craigellachie

1) Because Jim Murray knows what he's talking about.
2) Because this is exactly where the "whiskey rivers" Spey and Fiddich meet.
3) Because the hotel "The Craigellachie" has such a stunning whiskey bar.

The one drama for the lonely island

The 16-year-old from the "Malts of Scotland" series is pure pleasure in powerful cask strength.
