Glenrothes: What takes a long time ...

A look at the TTB database gives whisky fans hope for a very exciting old bottling of Glenrothes. A 22-year-old Glenrothes, distilled in 1979, has just been registered in the database of the American authority.

1979? 22 years? Yes exactly. The precious dram was distilled on November 24, 1979 and bottled on February 13, 2002. Where has he been for the past 18 years? We do not know. But we look forward to it.

A short explanation about the TTB: The American "Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau" is the authority that is responsible for the taxation of alcoholic products in the USA. Anyone wishing to sell alcohol in the United States must first register their product here. The registration includes some information and is published in the TTB database. The inclined whisky enthusiast therefore often sees at an early stage what exciting new releases we will have in the future. It is not certain whether the registered bottling will actually come. But the probability is very high.

In any case, we are looking forward to the Glenrothes 1979 Single Malt, the character of which is described as "Rich, full aroma, ripe red orange".
