Apples, oats, pears: Lochlea brings in the whiskey harvest with the Harvest Edition

With Lochlea, the Scottish distillery landscape has grown around an independent, family-run farm distillery.

The former Laphroaig Distillery Manager and current Lochlea Production Director and Master Blender, John Campbell, is not the only one responsible for the unmistakable style of their single malt.

One of only four distilleries in Scotland, Lochlea only uses their own barley, distilling and aging their whiskey on site.

The Lochlea - Harvest Edition - First Crop is the new whisky of the "Seasonal Releases".

The series includes limited seasonal bottlings.

Each of them shows Lochlea Single Malt in a different light.

And what happens on the farm as the seasons change.

The Harvest Edition is inspired by the harvest season.

The label captures late summer sunsets and the deep red soil of Ayrshire after harvest.

In the bottle, the whisky captures the beginning of the transitional period with notes such as apple compote, oatmeal biscuits and roasted marshmallows.

The single malt matured in port hogsheads, Oloroso sherry butts and 1st-fill bourbon barrels.
