The first distillery named Balblair was built in 1790 in the northern Highlands.
This distillery no longer exists, at the same place in 1872, the current distillery was built.
Balblair was long owned by Allied Domecq, who closed the distillery in 1996 and sold to Inver House Distillers.
Since 1998 Balblair is back in operation.
The malt distilled here is pleasantly light and dry.
