Bruichladdich Blacker Still 86/06 Oloroso Cask 50.7% vol. 0,7l

Since the reopening of Bruichladdich by the independent bottler Murray McDavid in 2000 - and especially under the direction of Jim McEwan - the distillery and its whiskey shine like never before.

Jim McEwan - born on Islay and formerly master distiller at Bowmore - made a return to the original and natural in making Scottish whiskey.

For this reason, all bottlings of Bruichladdich are not filtered cool and without dyes.

Bruichladdich Blacker Still 1986/2006

This vintage bottling matured for almost 20 years in first-fill Oloroso sherry casks.
A wonderful malt with wonderful notes of ripe plum, raisins, nutmeg, sugarcane, toffee and roasted walnuts.

"The Blacker the Still, the Better the Whiskey" ... says an old Scottish whiskey-faith!
In the past, burnt bonfire and every still (blast furnace) burned and the stills became blacker and darker over time.
If somebody in the distillery offered a dark whiskey, they told him he was from such a nursing home.
In reality, the whiskey gets its color from the barrels in which it matures.
Just like this one from an Oloroso sherry keg.
Nearly 20 years of storage make this malt a deep dark whiskey.
Dark Sherry!
