Gordon & MacPhail is probably the most important independent bottler in Scotland.
Gordon & MacPhail has vast stocks of barrels from almost all distilleries, the stored vintages date back to the 30s.
The most famous series by Gordon & MacPhail is the Connoisseurs Choice with over 40 different bottlings.
There is also a Cask Strength series and bottlings under the name Spirit of Scotland and Speymalt.
One thing all the bottlings have in common is the very high, excellent quality.
Glenesk
Glenesk originated in 1897 as Highland Esk from a converted flat mill, it was later renamed North Esk, in World War I, the distillery was used as a barracks and closed shortly thereafter.
In 1938 it came into US possession and became under the name Montrose Grain distillery.
DCL took over the distillery in 1964, put it in 1974 under the name Hillside back to Malt production.
Since 1980 she is called Glenesk and delivered until 1985 the basic malt for the blend "Vat 69".
Since then, Glenesk has been used only as a malting plant.
The malt from this Highland distillery is wonderfully balanced, pleasantly soft with a subtle sweetness.
